Wawanesa has been popular with California drivers for years, so if your policy documents still say Wawanesa, it’s the same company under its new name.

You choose the shop, not Wawanesa

California's Auto Body Repair Consumer Bill of Rights says it plainly: an insurance company can't require you to have the repairs done at a specific body shop. You also have the right to a written, itemized estimate, to know what your policy covers for towing, storage and a rental car, and to get your own estimate from a registered shop while your claim is open.

Whatever the name on your policy, the rule in California is the same: you choose the repair shop. Tell the adjuster you’ve chosen GV Auto Collision.

Rental and towing

Check your policy for rental reimbursement and towing coverage, or ask the adjuster. If the other driver was at fault, ask their insurer for a rental under their policy. For our repair clients, the tow to our shop is free.

How we handle a Wawanesa claim at GV

  1. Tow or drop-off. If the car can't be driven, we tow it to our shop in Downtown LA for free when we do the repair.
  2. Photos and teardown. We document all the damage, including what's hidden behind the bumper and panels.
  3. Estimate and adjuster. We send the estimate and photos to Wawanesa and work directly with the adjuster.
  4. Supplements. If more damage shows up during the repair, we send Wawanesa a supplement for approval before we continue.
  5. Repair and report. Factory procedures, color-matched paint, a written report with photos at pickup, and a 3-year warranty on body and paint.
