How to report a Farmers claim
- Phone: Farmers Claims Call Center, 800-435-7764, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

- Online: "Report a claim" on farmers.com.
Farmers is one of the biggest insurers in California, so it's common for one or even both drivers to be with Farmers. Either way, each car's repair is a separate claim, and you can choose your own shop.
You choose the shop, not Farmers
California's Auto Body Repair Consumer Bill of Rights says it plainly: an insurance company can't require you to have the repairs done at a specific body shop. You also have the right to a written, itemized estimate, to know what your policy covers for towing, storage and a rental car, and to get your own estimate from a registered shop while your claim is open.
Farmers may suggest shops it works with. That is a suggestion only. You decide where the car is repaired, and Farmers still handles the claim.
Who pays: your policy or theirs
- The other driver was at fault: the claim goes to their insurer. You usually pay nothing, and a rental is typically covered while the car is being repaired.
- You were at fault, or the other driver isn't insured: you use your own collision coverage and pay your deductible.
- Not sure yet: start the claim anyway. We can begin the inspection while fault is being decided.
How we handle a Farmers claim at GV
- Tow or drop-off. If the car can't be driven, we tow it to our shop in Downtown LA for free when we do the repair.
- Photos and teardown. We document all the damage, including what's hidden behind the bumper and panels.
- Estimate and adjuster. We send the estimate and photos to Farmers and work directly with the adjuster.
- Supplements. If more damage shows up during the repair, we send Farmers a supplement for approval before we continue.
- Repair and report. Factory procedures, color-matched paint, a written report with photos at pickup, and a 3-year warranty on body and paint.
