How to start a AAA insurance claim
- Online on your AAA club’s website or in the AAA app, any time.
- Phone: use the claims number on your AAA insurance ID card or policy documents. AAA insurance is sold through regional clubs, so the number depends on your club.
Don’t confuse AAA roadside assistance with your AAA insurance claim. A AAA tow takes the car to a nearby location; it doesn’t open a claim. Tell the driver to bring it to GV, or call us and we tow it for free when we do the repair.
You choose the shop, not AAA
California's Auto Body Repair Consumer Bill of Rights says it plainly: an insurance company can't require you to have the repairs done at a specific body shop. You also have the right to a written, itemized estimate, to know what your policy covers for towing, storage and a rental car, and to get your own estimate from a registered shop while your claim is open.
AAA may recommend shops it works with. That is a recommendation only. You choose where your car is repaired.
What to have ready
- Your AAA policy number and the other driver’s insurance information.
- Photos of the damage and the scene.
- The police report number, if police came.
How we handle a AAA claim at GV
- Tow or drop-off. If the car can't be driven, we tow it to our shop in Downtown LA for free when we do the repair.
- Photos and teardown. We document all the damage, including what's hidden behind the bumper and panels.
- Estimate and adjuster. We send the estimate and photos to AAA and work directly with the adjuster.
- Supplements. If more damage shows up during the repair, we send AAA a supplement for approval before we continue.
- Repair and report. Factory procedures, color-matched paint, a written report with photos at pickup, and a 3-year warranty on body and paint.
